Pugh Funeral Home Obituaries: Four Things to Know First
Which Pugh Funeral Home Does This Guide Cover?
The current Pugh website describes a family of funeral businesses serving five Piedmont North Carolina locations. Not every location uses the exact same business name, so checking the city is important.
How to Find a Pugh Funeral Home Obituary
- 1Open Pugh’s All Obituaries page
This is the best starting point when you do not yet know which location handled the arrangements.
- 2Use the obituary search
Enter the person’s full name first.
- 3Try a simpler name if needed
Remove the middle name, title, suffix or nickname and try the surname alone.
- 4Open “Visit Obituary”
Use the full individual memorial rather than the short directory preview.
- 5Verify the person
Compare life dates, community, relatives and the Pugh location shown in the notice.
- 6Read the complete service schedule
Check visitation, funeral, memorial, graveside and burial events separately.
- 7Save the official memorial URL
Share the link rather than an old screenshot because event details may change.
- 8Recheck before travel
For an upcoming event, reopen the memorial shortly before leaving.
After opening: search the name → Visit Obituary → verify the person → read Service Schedule → save the exact event destination.

How to Read a Pugh Service Schedule Before You Travel
Recent Pugh memorials show why the service schedule matters. A Randleman obituary can list visitation at the funeral home, the funeral at a church in another community, and burial at Randolph Memorial Park. Troy notices can likewise separate the funeral-home service from interment at a church cemetery.
For another North Carolina example where the funeral-home address and event destination must be separated, see the Davis Funeral Home obituary guide. The Haysi Funeral Home guide also explains why funeral and cemetery routing should be recorded separately.
If You Cannot Find the Pugh Obituary
A Death Has Just Occurred: Practical First Steps
- 1Confirm the death has been legally pronounced
The process depends on whether the death occurred at home, a hospital, nursing facility or elsewhere.
- 2Look for prearrangements
Find any preneed contract, cemetery deed, insurance policy or written funeral wishes.
- 3Call the correct Pugh-system location
Use the city/address table above rather than assuming Asheboro.
- 4Ask what to prepare
Request an arrangement time and ask which identity, Veteran, cemetery and obituary details are needed.
- 5Ask for itemized current pricing
Compare the exact burial or cremation option you are considering before approving arrangements.
If you want another example of a detailed immediate-need checklist, the site’s Hazel Green Funeral Home guide walks through this stage in more depth.
Pugh Funeral, Cremation and Memorial Options
Pugh describes visitation, funeral and graveside/committal options. A service can be held in a chapel, church or another meaningful venue.
The current cremation page describes traditional services before cremation, memorial gatherings and graveside or committal gatherings.
Families may consider cemetery, mausoleum, monument and other memorial options in addition to funeral-home services.
After opening: compare traditional service + cremation, memorial gathering and graveside options → decide whether a gathering matters → ask for the exact itemized current price.
Pugh Funeral Home Prices and General Price List
Pugh currently publishes a Services & Pricing page and promotes transparent, itemized pricing. Its homepage also advertises two cremation starting-price options.
| Published option | Starting price | What the current page says is included |
|---|---|---|
| Direct Cremation | $975 | Retrieval/preparation within a 30-mile radius, death-certificate filing and a copy for the family, cremation, return of ashes, online obituary and simple direct-cremation container. The homepage labels this option online only. |
| Family Goodbye | $1,275 | Retrieval/preparation within a 30-mile radius, death-certificate filing and copy, private family viewing/farewell, cremation, basic urn, online obituary and a service within the funeral home. |
After opening: review Services & Pricing → use Download GPL → identify the exact service you want → compare itemized funeral-home and third-party charges → ask questions before authorizing arrangements.
North Carolina Funeral License, Preneed and Complaint Resources
The North Carolina Board of Funeral Service operates a consumer portal for funeral-establishment and professional license lookup, preneed-contract copies, preneed recovery claims, complaints and public-record requests. The Board states that it is not a government agency, although it is governed by North Carolina law.
Choose Request Copy of Preneed Contract, File Preneed Recovery Claim, Look up License or Licensee/Business Complaint → follow that specific form or search → keep a copy of anything you submit.
How to Get a North Carolina Death Certificate
North Carolina Vital Records currently charges a $24 nonrefundable search fee for one three-year period; if the record is found, that includes one certificate. Additional copies of the same certificate are currently $15 each.
Use NC Vital Records when ordering through the state, handling certain amendments, or when the county route is not convenient.
Current state office processing information lists newer death certificates separately from older records.
NC Vital Records states that birth, death and marriage certificates may also be obtained from the Register of Deeds in the county of the event.
The county route can be faster for many routine certificate requests.
- 1Identify the county where the death occurred
Do not automatically use the funeral-home county or the person’s county of residence.
- 2Compare state and county ordering options
Check the applicable Register of Deeds as well as NC Vital Records.
- 3Prepare identifying information
Use the legal name, date/place of death and applicant information required by the ordering office.
- 4Review current fees
The current state search fee is $24; additional copies of the same certificate are $15 each.
- 5Save the order receipt
Keep confirmation details until the certificate arrives.
After opening: choose Order a Certificate → compare state, county, online/phone and in-person methods → review ID/payment rules → check current processing dates → submit through the route that fits your timing.
After the Obituary: Social Security, Veteran Benefits and Estate Tasks
Ask whether the funeral director is reporting the death to Social Security. Survivor benefits are handled by SSA, not by the obituary page.
SSA: When Someone DiesVA burial and memorial benefits can include cemetery benefits, a burial flag, headstone/marker, memorial certificate and possible burial allowance when eligibility rules are met.
VA Burial & Memorial BenefitsA funeral home does not appoint an executor or administrator. North Carolina estate authority is handled through the appropriate Clerk of Superior Court process.
For a deeper North Carolina county-routing example, see the Davis Funeral Home guide. For a detailed Tennessee after-death workflow, the John P. Franklin Funeral Home guide is also useful.
